Faith Faith Journey Mental Health

God Has Got This

The latest news in Wisconsin is spreading fast and it surely is disheartening. Our governor, Tony Evers, just extended our Stay At Home order until May 26, 2020. You can read the new order here: https://content.govdelivery.com/accounts/WIGOV/bulletins/286d626. To say this is tough news for businesses and families is quite an understatement. We are worried about our livelihoods, our futures, and our mental health! How can we possibly survive another 1.5 months of this? I wish I had the answers to these questions, but I don’t. All I know is that throughout this pandemic, I have found myself relying on my faith more and more. It is the source of my greatest comfort. When anxiety and worry strike me, I remind myself of the many lessons I know about God.

  1. God has got this. We may not know why or how or when, but God does! He knows the beginning, the middle and the end of this story. Whenever I remind myself of this, my anxiety lessens as I know God has a plan. I don’t have one, but that is okay because He does.
  2. God loves all of us. He loves every creature walking the face of the earth. Somehow He provides for the earthworms crawling through the dirt; will He not provide for me, his own daughter? Of course, He will!
  3.  Prayer brings peace. We need to pray like we never have before. God doesn’t force Himself on us. He gives us free will. He wants us to come to Him in prayer. When we pray we are in relationship with Him. He hears our cries, our worries, our fears and He responds like a true father doing what is best for us—even if we do not always understand.
  4. This is temporary. This earthly life is temporary. One day, our spirit will be all that lives on of us and if we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we get to be in heaven for eternity. The worries of today will be long gone!

Light shines on a bible

I know it is tough to remind yourselves of these truths throughout the day when life seems so unstable, but I promise you it is worth it. I also know a lot of us are binge-watching television shows right now to help us pass the time. I want to share a wonderful new television show with you, that will not only pass the time but will help you grow your faith as well. The show is unlike any other that has been created about the life of Jesus. It is called The Chosen and if you have access to a smartphone you can watch this show. They just released the first season which includes 8 episodes. I watched the first episode today and I can’t wait for the next. I only stopped watching so I could share this post with you. Taking the time to watch this, will hopefully be a good reminder to you, (and to me) that we do have hope—thanks to Jesus. God truly has got this!

All you have to do to watch the show is to download the app The Chosen to your smartphone or iPad. Once you do, you can watch the show on your phone/ iPad or you can watch it with options like Apple TV, Roku, and others. Here is a link to the trailer for season one:https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=the+chosen+tv+series&docid=608022306232733493&mid=F766CA9DF7B7D0B711E1F766CA9DF7B7D0B711E1&view=detail&FORM=VIRE

I hope this reminder to look to God helps you, friends. I know my faith has helped me tremendously. We are all in this together!

XO-Kerry

Amen! Thanks for the reminder of how powerful and in control our God is. This coronavirus situation didn’t surprise or worry Him! Also thanks for recommendation to watch The Chosen…Matt & I watched the 1st episode and can’t wait to watch more!
